Senator Dino Melaye Escapes Another Assassination Attempt in Lokoja
Senator Dino Melaye today – 12th of June, 2017 escaped another assasination attempt, as he led a protest against the state government in Kogi State.
Mr. Melaye says two of his cars are damaged, while two persons are reportedly injured, in messages shared on Twitter.
According to the Kogi West lawmaker locked in a battle of political influence with the Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello, it took the intervention of the agents of the Directorate of State Security as well as his bulletproof car to secure his life.
Part of his tweets read:
“I can not be muted. I must continue to speak for the traumatised civil servants and Pensioners of kogi State”
“There was serious exchange of gun shots between d DSS, policemen and Govt assassins. DSS I thank u for saving my life after God”.
On the 15th of April, 2017, news broke that the Senator escaped death by whiskers when gunmen invaded his house in the early hours of a Saturday at Ayetoro-Gbede, Ijumu local government area of the state.
The assailants reportedly shot sporadically into the building about 12am, reports said. After the rain of bullet that lasted over one hour, two of the vehicles parked within the premises were damaged, while part of the building was also destroyed.
