4 Brothers murder their Grandmother for money ritual
Operatives of the Edo state command have arrested four brothers for the alleged murder of their grandmother, Mrs Grace Ovbiedo, for money ritual.
The four suspects include. Dickson Oluka, Salaya Oluka, Martins Oluka and Austin Enayi.
The incident took place on December 12, 2017, at No 28 Asowata Street, Ohovbe quarters in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of the state.
The suspects who are also internet fraudsters had wanted to be rich overnight and contacted a native doctor to perfect their plans.
They also consulted with the said native doctor who sold the idea to them on how they would become rich.
A source close to the family of the four said that the native doctor whose name was readily mentioned instructed them to tie a live tortoise to their backs and kill a close relation of theirs after which they would become extremely rich.
The brothers had on getting home, tied a tortoise to one of their backs and together used a wrapper to cover the mouth of the unsuspecting grandmother and smashed her head against a wall in the process.
But the cat was led out of the bag when they were about to dispose of the body and were caught red-handed by residents of the area who raised an alarm.
Policemen were quickly drafted to the area and arrested two of the suspects.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, yesterday confirmed the incident.
He said the two suspects, Dickson and Salaya have been arrested while the two others are on the run.
Nwanbuzor also said a manhunt for the fleeing two as been launched by the police.
The other two nabbed brothers now in custody were said to have confessed to the crime.
In addition, the said native doctor who was earlier arrested had been granted bail while the controversial tortoise is still in police custody as an exhibit.
